This year, to celebrate the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator’s first year in operation, we want to acknowledge some of the individuals who have been alongside us, have inspired us and are part of the journey forward. To that end we are launching the first annual Pratt Institute/BF+DA Positive Impact Awards.
Eileen Fisher is being awarded the Corporate Leadership in Advancing Sustainability.
We asked her to talk about how it feels to be a large brand diving deeply into traceability and to even go as far as to make a 2020 deadline? That’s bravery for you.
What’s the best advice Eileen could give another CEO on where to start?
“We established Vision2020 to help hold the company accountable to our sustainability goals. We definitely won’t have it all figured out by that time but we will have achieved success on some goals. To other CEOs, the best advice I could give on where to start is to tap into the passions of your employees. A lot of work is spearheaded by people in the company who are passionate about sustainability. By allowing them to move these initiatives along we are making great progress.”
