TECH TUESDAY: Shapeways Talks 3D Scanning Straight Off Your Own Camera

As part of our ongoing quest to educate our growing fashion community, we ask a tech-based company to come in monthly and talk shop. From 3D prototyping to virtual draping, tools for tracking and storytelling to bio materials grown in Brooklyn labs, our speakers are engineered to inspire you with all the latest and greatest in tech.

Our May Tech Tuesday is featuring one of our tech heroes: Shapeways.

Along with its fellow tech advances of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and the like, 3D Scanning is poised to become a tool that is immediately available to consumers. As in, look no further than your smartphone for access to 3D scanning that can aid in everything from sending your measurements to a tailor on Savile Row to crowd-sourcing customers sizing for buyers and designers.

Shapeways Design Evangelist Lauren Slowik will discuss a number of currently accessible tools, techniques and trends to look out for to start applying the capabilities of 3D scanning into all aspects of apparel and accessory design…and beyond!
