On September 14, 2015, the Brooklyn Fashion+Design Accelerator presents “FASHION=ACTIVISM: Rethink, Reuse, Respect,” an exhibit featuring work by artists, emerging local brands and big apparel brands that are determined to change how we think about what we wear. Offering a counterpoint to the traditional New York Fashion Week runway shows, the exhibit uses artifacts, garments, performance and media, to explore human rights, the impact of the industry on the environment and the need to support traditional cultures.
FASHION=ACTIVISM is sponsored by Eileen Fisher and The North Face.
In addition to the launch of the FASHION=ACTIVISM: Rethink, Reuse, Respect exhibit, a panel titled “Rethinking Radical- How Radical Goals Lead to Positive Change,” will be moderated by Teel Lidow, founder of Boerum Apparel and a Venture Fellow at the BF+DA. The panel brings together representatives from Eileen Fisher and The North Face as well as Director of Education + Professional Development at the CFDA, Sara Kozlowski.
