Have a question we haven’t addressed? We’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line.

How do I apply to the BF+DA?

Simple. Apply here.

Do I have to be a Pratt Alum?

No, the BF+DA is open to all designers.

At what stage of my design career do I have to be in?

We have two levels for start-ups, the first are high-impact candidates that have started their businesses and are looking to grow to the next stage. The second are high-potential candidates that are just starting out and have financial or institutional backing in place.

How long do I get to be a part of the Accelerator?

The average Venture Fellow will be a part of the Accelerator for two to three years.

Do I get support after I leave?

Our programs and mentorship team work to grow our client companies into viable enterprises that are ready to move out on their own.

How are design entrepreneurs selected?

We are interested in five key elements – design and innovation, social and environmental values, growth potential, financial security, and cultural fit. Using these criteria, our review committee selects applicants for a short phone interview. For the next stage, we invite you to our space for an in-person interview, to see our resources, and meet some of our entrepreneurs. The final stage consists of two Burst sessions (deep-dive discovery), one with our Entrepreneurs-in-Residence and one with our s.LAB mentors.

What’s the cost?

Our Venture Fellow fees currently range from $400 to $600 per month for the first year.

What am I expected to contribute?

We are a community of people that thrives by its members being available, interested and engaged in the success of others.

Do I have to show something at the end of my time in the Accelerator?

No, but we hope you will have achieved success!

Do I need to be in Fashion Design to apply?

No. We also support product designers, technologists and social entrepreneurs. We are interested in talented people who are entrepreneurial and are passionate about their business.
