Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator

You don’t have to own a business to live an independent life. Design the life you want to lead by applying the basic principles of entrepreneurship. As a creative professional you are in a unique position to take advantage of the market to define your own career path.

Topics Include: identifying opportunities, risk assessment, long and short term goal setting, contract negotiations, financial planning and dynamic proposals.

Instructor: Nina Zilka

Nina is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of natural beauty and grooming line Alder New York (aldernewyork.com) and Co-Founder and Editor of online lifestyle publication the ANY Magazine (theanymag.com). In both roles, Nina’s focus is to create a well designed, ethically focused end product.

Her work has been featured in numerous publications including Men’s Health, Refinery 29, Details, Vogue, The New York Times, and others. Alder New York’s Natural Hair Powder was rated Men’s Journals Best Dry Shampoo of 2015, and their line, which includes all natural dry shampoo, lip balms, pomade, hand salves, and face masks, is sold at high end retailers around the globe such as Fellow Barber, Malin + Goetz, and Lou & Grey.

Nina holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Pratt Institute, and has been a teaching in Pratt Institute’s Fashion Department for the past five years. Her experience there includes teaching fashion construction, fashion design, knitwear, and co-creating and teaching a business curriculum focused on entrepreneurship in Fashion Design. Nina is also the Managing Assistant at the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator.

To Register:

Students with a domestic address can register online here, beginning April 4th. Please follow the directions below-

Select “Continuing Education” on the right hand side of the page.
Select “Registration & Pay for SCPS Courses”.
Where it says “Select Course Code” enter “XCDE”.
Click “Submit” at the bottom of the page.
You will then see all classes running for the CDE program.
Select the courses you would like to take and press “Submit”.
