There are many factors which a designer should take into account when selecting the right yarn for the end product. Learn to redefine design and fashion by acquiring knowledge about sustainable principles, ethical practice and choosing the right yarn count for the machine gauge and fabric structure.

Kelly Puertas
With over ten years experience in the fashion industry, I have worn many hats as a manager of sampling and production, senior knitwear tech designer and experienced knitwear designer for men, women and children’s apparel. These experiences helped me achieve complete fluency in sweater construction, yarn composition and stitch structure. I have also taught “Shaped Knitwear” workshop to industry designers at Stoll FTNY. Teaching cost effective knitting techniques and finishes while maintaining zero waste manufacturing.
Tara St. James
As a fashion designer with over 15 years experience producing both domestically and overseas, I have developed a vast understanding of a variety of production systems and manufacturing techniques. As a private consultant I have helped over a dozen brands get started in the fashion industry, guiding them through tech packs, sample development, fabric sourcing and production. I have also taught design concept, sustainable manufacturing and textile sourcing at Pratt and FIT since 2008.
