On September 20th, the final day of our FASHION=ACTIVISM exhibition concludes with “Family Day” offering fun, interactive workshops for kids and parents to learn sewing, mending and weaving along with an all-day kid’s clothing swap.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of EILEEN FISHER, we’ll be making t-shirt tote bags out of pre-loved EILEEN FISHER apparel working with the wonderful team from Black Girls Sew! Get ready to decorate and sew on lots of fun appliques and trim donated from Manhattan’s Trim Lab. Bring in something torn or frayed and we’ll also teach the kids easy mending techniques so they can start fixing their own clothes at home. Weaving Hand will also be on site teaching kids how to use a table top loom and backstrap loom.
Did we mention an all day kids clothing swap? Bring 5-10 pieces of gently worn clothing to swap with other area kids and help freshen up your child’s back to school wardrobe! Whatever is left over will be donated to The North Face’s Clothes the Loop campaign. All donations get you a voucher towards The North Face clothing.
