Fashion Fights Cancer Master Class with Study NY
Monday, June 6, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
Fashion Fights Cancer is a nonprofit organization that galvanizes the support of New York City and the international fashion community to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and therapeutic programs.
Join Brooklyn Fashion+Design Accelerator’s Production Director (as well as founder of Study NY) Tara St James for a Master Class to get an overview in sustainability and ethical sourcing as well as learn how to make a zero waste garment.
According to the Fashion Fights Cancer site, “research on cancer shows that health and wellness is an important aspect of battling and surviving cancer which includes emotional support and finding hope and inspiration. FFC, in collaboration with the fashion community, is an important partner in providing that much-needed emotional support and provides ways to regain hope and inspiration. FFC’s therapeutic workshops and seminars are offered free to cancer patients and survivors. These workshops and seminars use fashion- and design-related disciplines in a variety of activities that act as soothing therapy. Internationally-acclaimed fashion designers donate their time, studio space, and work with participants to create unique, one-of-a-kind designer products.
Go here for more information as well as to RSVP for Tara’s class. Also being held on the 7th and 13th at the same time.
