We recently brought together the sustainable fashion community to celebrate the BF+DA’s final event.
Lewis Perkins, President, Apparel Impact Institute, Deb Johnson, Executive Director, BF+DA, Richa Agarwal, Managing Director, BF+DA Amy DuFault, Communications Director, BF+DA engaged in conversation on how best to get sustainability to go mainstream. Also, what is the current state of sustainability and how are people implementing real-world solutions from the perspectives of circularity, policy, business and education?
As we approach 2020, the benchmark year for achieving sustainability targets for many companies and institutions, many brands are assessing their success with a multitude of initiatives. How are we all faring, what gains have been made, what do we need to accomplish by 2030 and seriously, how many times do we really need to stretch the goal dates? From supply chains to policy change, investment to education, labor justice to bio-generated materials, sustainable solutions are gaining traction globally. Leveraging this traction and scaling change is key. Maintaining our passion amidst the complex set of interrelated levers that drive change is critical, especially when the goal requires a massive change to how we think and act.
