TECH TUESDAY: Brain-Computer Interfacing & Fashion
Tuesday, February 21, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm| $10
As part of our ongoing quest to delve into the impact of technology on the apparel industry and share what we’re learning, we invite fashion-technologists to come to the BF+DA monthly and talk shop. From 3D prototyping to virtual draping, activated materials and bio-fibers grown in labs, and garments that connect you to the internet of things, our speakers are engineered to inspire you and give you a glimpse into the near future. We are very lucky to have Conor Russomanno come in this February to talk to our community about OpenBCI.
Conor will be talking about the state of the art of brain-computer interfacing (BCI) and the larger field of human-computer interfacing technologies as they relate to the apparel industry. He will also talk about his experiences launching and building OpenBCI and his thoughts on the future of BCI, artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality (AR).
Conor has a mixed background of art, design, and engineering. As an undergrad engineering student at Columbia he focused on computer graphics and virtual environments. While pursuing an MFA in Design and Technology at Parsons, Conor discovered creative coding and brain-computer interfacing (BCI). Since then, Conor has been building OpenBCI, a company dedicated to open source innovation of human-computer interface technologies. His current interests lie at the intersection of BCI, artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality (AR).
