Ops21 Advanced Materials for Fibers & Textiles Workshop
Thursday, October 18, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
Through Ops21, a Futureworks NYC program backed by NYCEDC and led by ITAC, 24 advanced technology workshops will be taking place across three topic areas: advanced materials, digital manufacturing, and robotics.
We are proud to sponsor and host an Advanced Materials Workshop focused on Fibers and Textiles at the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator which is intended to further your knowledge of fibers and textiles, their material characteristics, to share case studies on advances in fibers and textiles, and to discuss related challenges faced by NYC manufacturers.
This workshop will be presented by Cornell’s Center for Materials Research, specifically by Anil Netravali, Cornell University’s Jean and Douglas McLean Professor in Fiber Science and Apparel Design.
This workshop is for manufacturers and industrial businesses that are operating within the five boroughs of NYC that work with fibers and textiles. In addition, fashion brands managers – that source textiles from NYC manufacturers – are welcome to attend and are encouraged to attend along with folks from the NYC manufacturers from which they source.
About Advanced Materials:
Advanced Materials is the advance or modification of traditional materials to obtain better or specific properties, resulting in improved products. Benefits include optimized product performance and durability (e.g. strength, weight, shelf life); lower environmental risks (e.g. coatings, finishes, sustainable materials); and reduced project lifecycle costs.
Who Should Attend?
1. NYC Manufacturers working with Fibers and Textiles:
Executives and Company Decision-Makers
Directors / VPs / Managers of Manufacturing / Operations
Technology and Innovation Specialists
2. Fashion Brand Managers that source from NYC Fiber/Textile Manufacturers.
Workshop eligibility: This workshop is for established NYC manufacturing or industrial companies operating (making or assembling products) within NYC’s five boroughs. Established NYC manufacturers are those that are revenue producing and having been in operation for more than 5 years. If you are a revenue producing NYC manufacturer that has been operating, as defined above, for less than 5 years, please contact email@example.com prior to register so we can see whether this program makes sense for your company or not.
