BKLYN Fashion Academy (Round 2!)
Wed, Feb 6 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The second round of the Brooklyn Public Library’s BKLYN Fashion Academy (BFA) is here! The Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator is thrilled to be part of this fashion intensive again in 2019.
What can you expect? Learn what it takes to create a viable fashion business! Up to twenty aspiring women’s wear designers will be selected to participate in a 16-week intensive program. They will receive mentoring from industry experts and attend classes on sustainability, sourcing, accessories design, market research, and more, while creating a miniature Fall/Winter collection to showcase on the runway in May 2019.
Information sessions have now ended. If you missed attending one of the information sessions, you may check out the presentation HERE. You may apply to the program even if you did not attend an Information Session.
This year the BKLYN Fashion Academy will dive into the fashion culture of the Herero Women of Namibia and incorporate the technology of StitchKit. The neo-Victorian theme will take you on a futuristic rollercoaster, into the realm of Steampunk and introduce you to a growing wave in fashion.
In addition to the BF+DA, participating partners for the program include BK Style Foundation, Design Collective NY, Inc., FABSCRAP, Fashion Week Brooklyn, Made in New York: Fashion, Materials for the Arts, Mood Fabrics and Querencia Studio.
Thinking of joining us this year? The application for the BKLYN Fashion Academy is LIVE! Apply HERE.
