TEXTILE TUESDAY: Responsible Wool Production With Astarte
Tuesday, January 10, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm| $10
Once each month, we invite a sustainable textile vendor to come present their materials and processes. Join us for January’s Textile Tuesday with Astarte. Astarte is a collaboration between two fashion entrepreneurs born from the idea that humans and wildlife can coexist.
Sarah Chojecki and Carlos Zuniga will discuss their work with a certified group of ranchers from the Peninsula Valdes and Wildlife Friendly Enterprises to develop a model of natural, renewable, and responsible wool production for the fashion industry. They will analyze how science and fashion can be brought together for conservation purposes and eco-friendly production, and tell their journey to source a traceable, organic, machine knittable wool, made from 100% merino.
This Textile Tuesday might even be viewed as an example for other industries on how business can be beneficial to solve environmental challenges.
Sarah and Carlos will be joined via Skype by the biologists that are part of this project (to be confirmed). Samples of the wool will be available and a Q&A will follow to answer questions.
