TECH TUESDAY: Personalized Garment Design & Expressive E-Textiles

As part of our ongoing quest to educate our growing fashion community, we ask a tech-based company to come in monthly and talk shop. From 3D prototyping to virtual draping, tools for tracking and storytelling to bio materials grown in Brooklyn labs, our speakers are engineered to inspire you with all the latest and greatest in tech.

Join Jingwen Zhu a multidisciplinary designer, creative technologist and crafter for December’s TECH TUESDAY. She is currently a research resident at the NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program focusing on connected wearables and expressive e-textiles.

Join Jingwen in a discussion about personalized garment design and expressive e-textiles. She will introduce the technologies that can turn traditional textiles and garments to dynamic and expressive ones, and talk about her own experience of bringing technology into personalized garment design. She hopes that from this talk the audience can get a sense of how technology can be used in enhancing wearable experiences in the aspects of identity, intimacy, and communication, as well as how to think, design and prototype these experiences as a designer and technologist.
