TECH TUESDAY: Crafting Wearables / Costume Hack

As part of our ongoing quest to educate our growing fashion community, we ask a tech-based company to come in monthly and talk shop. From 3D prototyping to virtual draping, tools for tracking and storytelling to bio materials grown in Brooklyn labs, our speakers are engineered to inspire you with all the latest and greatest in tech.

Come celebrate the launch of Venture Fellow Deren Guler‘s new book, Crafting Wearables: Blending Technology with Fashion. A limited number of books will be available for purchase, but you can grab one before if you’d like. Deren will be giving a short presentation based on her experience writing and researching the book and guest author Dr. Kate Sicchio will be performing and presenting her “Vibe Shirt” project. Kate is a choreographer, media artist and performer whose work explores the interface between choreography and technology.

We’ll also be celebrating our favorite wearable holiday: Halloween! We’ll have a costume hacking table where you can build a light up face-mask or add some simple circuits light up your halloween costume! Materials for the costume hack will be available to purchase separately by cash or credit card.

General public: $10
Pioneering members: free
Emerging and Studying members: $5

Member discount will show up in the cart.
