Winter Film Series – Worn Stories Book Signing and Clothing Swap
Wednesday, March 4, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join us for an evening featuring New York Times acclaimed author Emily Spivack as she takes us for a conscious tour of how clothing holds different types of value depending on the wearer. Emily will show her book trailer as well as give a beautiful, visually-guided presentation of how she got the idea to create Worn Stories.
In addition to being a celebrated author, Emily is also currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Pratt Institute’s Fashion Department.
Along with Emily’s presentation and a Q&A, we ask you to bring a piece of clothing that means something to you and to tell the story behind it. We’ll be recording all stories for the BF+DA site as well as adding to Emily’s Worn Stories page.
AND, to add in even more goodness, and in the true spirit of consciousness, join us for a mid-winter clothing swap by bringing 5 pieces of clothing, jewelry, shoes and bags to swap out with fellow attendees!
From the Worn Stories Website:
“Worn Stories is a collection of stories about clothing and memory that has been edited by Emily Spivack since 2010. The New York Times Best Seller was published by Princeton Architectural Press in Fall 2014. In addition to her book trailer (one of the first book trailers ever created!) Emily will present a touching presentation on the big screen about some of her favorite “Worn Stories” clothing.”
