2017 New York Textiles Summit
Tue, Oct 31 @ 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
The New York Product Stewardship Council, the Re-Clothe NY Coalition, and the Product Stewardship Institute will host a broad group of stakeholders, including manufacturers, retailers, recycling/reuse organizations, the fashion industry, state/local government, researchers, nonprofits, and consumers at this interactive event.
The Summit will draw professionals from across the supply chain who are interested in connecting with others to drive innovation and overcome challenges in textiles production and recovery.
Join Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator Production Director Tara St James for “Sustainable Manufacturing and Design,” a panel moderated by Lenzing’s Tricia Carey. The session will explore sustainable manufacturing processes of both natural and synthetic fibers. The choice of material often influences the degree to which a product can be reused or recycled, and the associated cost. Speakers will discuss supply chains aimed at waste reduction and the incorporation of recycled content into apparel. Additional topics to be discussed include sustainability ratings to help consumers with purchasing decisions.
